Patti Le Olmstead

Patti Le (Chapman) Olmstead was born on October 26, 1935 and died on January 4, 2023. She was the daughter of Nolene (Simmons) and E.B. Chapman of Sherman. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1953. She attended Stephens College in Missouri for one year and transferred to the University of Texas at Austin. She was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. She met her future husband, Ellis, on a blind date and married him on August 17, 1957 after graduation from college. They lived in Dallas two years where she worked as a secretary for the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company.

In 1960 they moved to Sherman and started their family. She was a life-long member of Central Christian Church, volunteered as a Pink Lady at Wilson N Jones Hospital, was a member of the Sherman Service League, and a member of the Current Review Club. Patti was an avid bridge player and was in several bridge clubs. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Ellis Olmstead, parents and sister, Kay Chapman Smith. She is survived by her children Kay Ellen Kirby (Kevin), Lee Olmstead (Julie), and Andrew Olmstead (Stacey) all of Sherman. Grandchildren are Emily Kirby of Ft. Worth, Lauren Kirby of Waco, Michal Overturf (Travis) of Sherman, Clayton Olmstead (Mary Virginia) of Dallas, Claire Olmstead of Redlands, CA and Brett Olmstead (fiancé Javier Garcia).

On Friday, January 13, there will be a graveside service at West Hill Cemetery at 1:00 celebrating the life of Patti. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Christian Church, 401 S. Travis St. in Sherman. The register book can be signed online at waldofuneralhome.com.
