Today is the final day to vote for your favorite local events, businesses and more in the 2019 Best of Texoma contest. After two weeks, nearly 300,000 votes have been cast by more than 7,800 area residents. This round of voting will decide first place winners in the 177 categories suggested and voted on by you and other members of the Texoma community.

Though the contest is nearly over, clear first place winners cannot yet be declared in every category. At least five categories, Best Pediatrician, Best Attorney-Civil, Best Locksmith, Best Place for Speech Therapy and Best Landscape Rock & Gravel, have five or fewer votes separating the top nominees.

The pressure is on. This is your last chance to make your voice heard and honor the organizations, individuals and events that serve to make Texoma a great place to live and visit. Participants who vote in 25 or more categories will be entered in a sweepstakes for a chance to win a $200 gift card, so don’t miss out on your final opportunity to place yourself in the running.

As always, be sure to follow the rules specified at to make your vote count. Only one ballot per IP or email address is allowed to be submitted per day. Almost 650 voters were disqualified in the nomination and run-off rounds due to rule violations.

Results will be announced on the night of April 27 at the annual Best of Texoma Gala and in the Best of Texoma 2019 magazine, published April 28. The gala will begin at 7 p.m. at Texoma Event Center and feature entertainment by the More Love Band and DJ Jess.

Happy birthday to Craig White of Denison; Michael Hutchins of Sherman; and Jack Portman of Bells.
