Nancy Lee (Shane) Holder

Waxahachie - Nancy Lee (Shane) Holder passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on January 13, 2022 at her residence in Waxahachie, TX at the age of 77. Her children and grandchildren were by her side.

Nancy was born in Sherman, TX on March 25,1944 to Roy Lee Shane and Naomi Louise (Brinlee) Shane. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1962 and attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. Upon returning from college, she was employed by Johns Manville where she met Darvin Holder. They were married on May 7, 1965 and made their home in Denison, TX. Together they raised their family and attended Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, where they both taught Sunday School and played an integral part in the church's music ministry.

Nancy made her career as an Executive Secretary with various organizations, with the years she was employed at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman, TX always holding a special place in her heart.

An eternal optimist, Nancy started each new day with a smile on her face. She had an uncanny ability to make friends easily and brought so much joy, fun, and laughter to all who knew and loved her. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed traveling, cooking, singing, laughing, and any new and exciting experience that came her way. She embraced life to the fullest, laughing at herself along the way.

Family was at the core of Nancy's being. She loved deeply and was a wonderful mother, however, her claim to fame was being a "Mimi". Her grandchildren were her world and could talk her into anything, such as spending the night with her each weekend, all of them together! She watched scary movies with them, swam with them, vacationed with them, walked theme parks with them, even riding the most horrifying roller coasters with them until her health no longer allowed. The chaos kept her young and she loved every minute of it!

She was preceded in death by her parents, best friend Darvin Holder, and a special nephew, Randy Gourd.

She is survived by her daughters, Christi Turner (Andy) of Waxahachie, TX and Jill Bachman (John) of Denison, TX; grandchildren Hailee Turner of Waxahachie, TX, Meagan Malone (Michael) of Red Oak, TX, Jacoby Bachman of Lewisville, TX, Jace Bachman of Long Beach, CA, Jonah Bachman of Denison, TX; great-grandchildren Brooklyn Bachman, Turner Malone, Lynnlee Malone, and Abby Malone; sister Barbara Gourd (George) of Tahlequah, OK and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Nancy was a member of Farley Street Baptist church in Waxahachie at the time of her passing. A private memorial service will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of choice.
