Sheila Gayle Hampton

Sherman - Sheila Gayle Hampton, age 64, of Sherman, Texas, passed away in Sherman, Texas, on October 4, 2021. She was born on June 9, 1957, to William Chapman Hampton Jr (Virginia) the second, and Marion Maxine Hampton (Texas) in Lubbock, Texas.

She worked as a nurse for most of her career at Wilson-N-Jones and later at TMC at the Behavioral Health Unit. She was a caring health provider and showed great strength on the Oncology unit she worked on for grieving families in their time of loss. She enjoyed working in her flower bed, teaching her grandchildren about "real music" (classic rock), and she lived a great life between Alaska and Texas. In her years right before she passed, she lived on the Alaskan homestead of her son Apollo and enjoyed all the things that Alaska had to offer.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She watched as much football as she could on the weekends but specifically cheered on the Ohio State Buckeyes.

She is survived by her daughter April McClure-Hignight and husband Steve Hignight of Sherman, Texas: Son, Apollo Brannum of Willow Alaska; Grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth and Laney Robinson, Cash Hignight, Great Grandson Lukas Lane Robinson; brothers, Bill Hampton and wife Donna Hampton of Pottsboro, Texas, D.M. Hampton and wife Amy Hampton of Sherman, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests that you make donations to the Grayson College Foundation to the Nursing Program under Sheila Hampton.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Valley View Church of Christ in Gunter, Texas.
