Jimmy Dale Hawkins

Jimmy Dale Hawkins went to be with the Lord on September 15, 2021 at Texoma Medical Center.

A celebration of life will be held Monday, September 20, 2021 at 10:00 am, at Fisher Funeral Home Chapel, 604 West Main St, Denison, TX. A graveside service will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.

Jimmy was born November 28, 1934 in Lone Oak, TX to Jessie T and Essie Bell (Creel) Hawkins. He attended Achille High School. It was at AHS where he met the love of his life, Tommie Sue Fields, and they were married July 24th, 1956 in Greenville, TX, starting 61 years of love together.

After high school, Jimmy enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he proudly served 20 years. During his time in the military, he and Tommie were stationed in many different places -- Louisiana, Florida, Montana, Newfoundland, California and Hawaii, just to name a few. He retired from the Air Force in 1975 as a Master Sergeant, and after retirement, Jimmy went to the work for the US Post Office where he was a mailroom clerk for 16 years until his retirement in 1992. After that, Pawpaw found several ways to stay busy. Everything from helping Mawmaw around the house, to taking the grandchildren on vacation, driving the short trip to Choctaw to enjoy crab legs, and even building fences with his friends with the "Old Farts Fencing Company". When the grandchildren needed anything, Pawpaw was there – from cars, to cash, to advice you may or may not have asked for (but needed to hear!), everyone always knew they could count on him

He is survived by his loving children; Daughter, Judy Sue Hawkins; and Son, James Dale Hawkins; Grandchildren: James (Leigh Ann) Garcia, Lucas (Melissa) Hawkins, and Jessica Garcia. Great-grandchildren, Brianna, Deuce, Victoria, Lysell and Jax.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Tommie; his parents; Jessie T and Essie Hawkins; and grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob and Micah Hawkins.

Pallbearers will be James Garcia, Lucas Hawkins, Bob Cox, John Scott, David Estes and Zip Tarver.
