Hearl Edward Mead
Dennison - Hearl Edward Mead, 88, of Denison, Texas passed away Friday, July 16, 2021 in Denison, Texas. Hearl Mead was born August 4, 1932 at home in Liberty, Oklahoma to Byrdie Mae and Walter B. Mead. He was an honored citizen of the Chickasaw Nation.
He married the love of his life, Flora Ellen (Thompson) Mead December 19, 1952 and they moved to Denison to raise their family. Hearl loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who were the light of his life. He was actively involved with the Morton Street Church of Christ and attended there regularly for over 60 years serving as an elder for 30 years.
Hearl Mead was a devoted husband and father who was not afraid of hard work and took on numerous additional jobs making it possible for his children to get college degrees, something that he believed was important but never had the opportunity to do himself. He retired from Safeway /AGP in 1997 as a quality control lab technician. His interests included attending and volunteering at church, traveling, camping with friends and family, taking care of his beautiful yard, and tinkering with cars. People from everywhere brought their cars to him for repairs or advice which he freely gave. He loved spending time with his grandchildren who lovingly called him "Chief", and always looked forward to holidays at his house. He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Mead is survived by daughters, Sherian Yenna and husband Steve of Houston, TX, Teresa Adams and husband, Hollis of Sherman; sons, Hearl Mead, Jr. and wife, Dusty of Spicewood, TX; Danny Mead of Denison, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and sister Thelma Crook. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, and four brothers.
