Denison firefighters extinguished flames inside of a vacant house Friday afternoon.

Fire Chief Gregg Loyd said the structure fire call came in at 1:19 p.m., and firefighters were on scene at the house in the 1000 block of West Coffin Street about four minutes later. Loyd said they quickly put out the flames, which appeared to have started in the rear of the house and caused minimal damage.

The house did not have power, water or gas turned on, and the arson investigator was on the scene. Loyd said they did not know what caused the fire, and they were in the initial phase of the investigation at that time.
