The body of a Durant man was recovered from Lake Texoma Sunday morning just after 7 a.m.

Witnesses told Oklahoma state troopers that Peter D. Bucker, 26, went swimming under the railroad bridge at Rock Creek in Bryan County. They said they heard Mr. Bucker yelling for help and saw him go underwater at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, but he did not resurface.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Marine Division searched the water for several hours Saturday evening until the recovery effort was called off and then resumed Sunday morning.

Mr. Buckner’s body was recovered 30 feet from the shore in 19 feet of water. He was not using a personal flotation device.
