LOS ANGELES — A 28-year-old science teacher accused of sexually abusing a teenage student in San Pedro may have found additional victims through online postings in which she offered private tutoring, police said.

Michelle Yeh took on a temporary teaching assignment with San Pedro High School’s science department in February, and when the school year ended, she reached out to one of her 15-year-old students for a private meeting, detectives say.

Police say the student revealed this month that abuse occurred, leading to Yeh’s arrest last week on suspicion of lewd acts with a child. Yeh posted $100,000 bail Saturday, arrest and jail records show.

The gender of the alleged victim was not disclosed. Yeh is due back in court Aug. 12.

Authorities believe Yeh may have victimized others because she took on multiple teaching assignments in the area and offered tutoring online, which put her in contact with minors.
