WHITEWRIGHT — A Whitewright house was destroyed early Tuesday morning when a fire broke out.

Whitewright firefighters responded to a report of a fire at about 4:30 a.m. at a house in the 300 block of S. Bond Street, Fire Chief Jake Reynolds said. Firefighters arrived to find the fire mostly on the south side of the house, but "fully involved." The three people who lived at the house were able to evacuate safely, Reynolds said.

The Tom Bean and Bells fire departments provided mutual aid. The house is "total loss," Reynolds said. The occupants of the house told firefighters on scene that they had a place to stay.

Deputy Fire Marshal Kerry Price is investigating the cause of the fire, Reynolds said.
