GORDONVILLE — A woman lost her right foot Wednesday morning when her car rolled over it in Sherwood Shores.

The Sherwood Shores Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call of a car wreck at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Stone Circle Drive, Sherwood Shores VFD Chief Tim Bilderback said. A woman had been attempting to get something from the back passenger side of her four-door sedan when the car started rolling. The woman ran to the front driver’s side of the car in an attempt to put the car in park. As she did so, her right foot became caught under the front driver’s side wheel. This amputated her foot, Bilderback said.

The car kept rolling and came to rest in the backyard of a neighboring home.

Responders airlifted the woman to a Dallas-area hospital. They hope that the foot can be reattached there, Bilderback said. Fire officials are still not completely sure what happened, he said, because there were no other witnesses besides the victim, and she could not speak coherently immediately after the incident.
