The Grayson County Housing Authority is looking for a few good families. The GCHA will start taking applications on Aug. 24.


"We are excited about adding new families to our program and will we welcome all who want to apply," said a news release from the SHA.


No applications will be released to applicants until 9 a.m. on Aug. 24.


"We invite you to go online at http://www.gcha.net, and print the 21-page application or come to the office to complete one," the release said.


The application on the website will be available from 9 a.m. Aug. 24 until 3 p.m. Aug. 26. Interested parties should go the website, for additional information including the documents one will need to present along with a completed application. Applications and all supporting materials must be received by the GCHA by 4 p.m. Aug. 26. Any application received after that time will be denied.


For those who wish to apply at the office at 1708 W. Houston, the application process will begin when the doors open at 9 a.m. Aug. 24. Applications will be taken from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Applicants should bring with them the following: original or certified copy of birth certificates and social security cards for all members of the family, a current verification of income and a driver’s license or photo ID for all family members over the age of 18.


"We can only get a small group in our office at one time so please come prepared to wait outside until we can get you indoors," Housing Authority Director Hazel Camp said.


Camp said she is excited about the online applications.


"This process has worked very well in the past, and we are happy to offer this opportunity again this year. We hope many will use the website and avoid the Texas heat," she said.
