Kenneth Vaughn, a former Texas Representative from Cherry Mound, died at a Garland hospital Tuesday.

Kenneth Vaughn, a former Texas Representative from Cherry Mound, died at a Garland hospital Tuesday.


Mr. Vaughn, 89, was born and raised in the Cherry Mound Community east of Denison. He and his wife, Sylvia would have been married 64 years in May.


The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Garland and burial will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Cherry Mound Cemetery.


Mr. Vaughan served in the state legislature from 1975 to 1977, according to records kept by the Texas Legislative Reference Library. The records show that he was the vice chair of the Business and Industry Subcommittee on Appropriative Matters and the chair of the Business and Industry Subcommittee on Industrial Development. He was also the chair of the Business and Industry Subcommittee on the Implementation of the Metric System. He also served on the Health and Welfare committee and on its subcommittees on mental health and retardation, and public welfare.
