BONHAM — A Bonham house that had just been rented to new tenants caught fire Wednesday afternoon and was destroyed.

Firefighters responded shortly before 1 p.m. to a fire at a house in the 1900 block of Robin Lane, said Bonham Fire Lt. Dudley. The fire had spread to about half of the house when the firefighters arrived. They were able to control the fire in about 30 minutes. Dudley said that the house is now a "total loss" due to the fire damage.

Nobody was inside the house at the time of the fire and nobody was injured. The house was vacant, Dudley said, although someone had rented the house on Tuesday. The renters had begun to move a few items in Those items were recovered.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Dudley said.
