Officials with Cable ONE have announced plans for the company to cease broadcast of WFAA-ABC in the Sherman-Denison television market. Starting on Feb. 26, the cable provider will no longer offer broadcasts of the Dallas-based WFAA-ABC on channel 8 and 456.

In a memo to the city of Denison dated Jan. 23, General Manager Claude Edwards said Cable ONE will still offer KTEN, the in-market ABC affiliate in addition to local affiliates for NBC, CBS, and FOX in standard and high definition. Edwards said the decision to drop broadcast of WFAA came after difficulties in negotiating a retransmission agreement for out-of-market signals.

"Our retransmission agreement for KTEN, the in-market station, prevents us from carrying WFAA , a duplicate, out-of- market station," said Trish Niemann, public relations director for Cable ONE.
