Theatricks had planned on opening their 2020-2021 season with the musical Cinderella. Due to the current social distancing restrictions along with the large cast and crew the show would require, the decision was made to postpone Cinderella until spring 2021.

In it’s place, Theatricks will be preforming ’Miss Nelson is Missing!’ with a much smaller cast and crew this September.

The play opens this week at the Honey McGee Playhouse in Sherman.

"We are hoping that the restrictions on crowds and social distancing will subside in time for all to enjoy Cinderella in March 2021, followed by The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs in July 2021," said Theatricks Advisory Council member Chessica Moon Burton. "Auditions, future workshops and updates will continue to be posted on our website and on Facebook. We are grateful for your support and flexibility during this time and we are looking forward to sharing this wonderful season of shows with our community as we have for over 30 years."

’Miss Nelson is Missing!’ is a comedic play adapted by Jeffery Hatcher based on the popular children’s book by authors Harry Allard and James Marshall. The play is about the disappearance of push over teacher Miss Nelson and her replacement is the hard-as-nails, detention-loving, recess-canceling, homework-overloading substitute teacher Viola Swamp. With the Big Test approaching, the kids suddenly realize how much they miss Miss Nelson and they'll do anything -- including hiring a private eye -- to solve the mystery of her disappearance and bring her back.

Sponsored by Sweetin Insurnace, the show boasts has a cast of 10 performers. The cast and crew are costumed by Cheryl Hayes, Hisae Shaw, and Kaitlyn Brem. Lighting and projections are by Joshua Williams, Brennan Burton, and Chessica Moon Burton. Sound by Cory Martin with Assistant Director and spotlight operator Caera Flood. Makeup and hair designed by Chessica Moon Burton.

"On opening night (Friday), we have invited the cast from Theatricks production of ’Miss Nelson is Missing!’ from 2011 to attend as kind of a graduation ceremony from the Class of room 207, Miss Nelson's class," Theatricks Director Webster Crocker said. "Immediately following the performance on Friday, the 2011 Viola Swamp will present her class their diplomas. This hopefully will show our community that Theatricks — celebrating its 35th anniversary since being formulated by the SCP Board of Directors in 1985 — has touched the lives of many in the community, both young and old, and what better way to celebrate this momentous occasion than with a graduation ceremony of some who benefited through Theatricks."

Show times will run from September 11th -20th. Reservations are made at the box office only and can be reached at 903-892-8818. For more information please visit
