Labor Day may still be around the corner, but Halloween and the holidays that follow it are on the minds of retailers. At least, they are according to the social media site Pinterest. The site said searches for Halloween-related information is up considerably this year over previous years.
The searches Pinterest said, are looking to put the "we" in Halloween.
"People are seeking greater connection this Halloween. Costumes for two, whether for couples, friends or with a pet, are trending," said the site's marketing site. Those searches were up 16 times over what they were for the same time last year in July.
In addition to ideas for costumes to keep us close to the ones we love, apparently America is also looking for ideas for fun Halloween food, movies, songs and decorating ideas for our homes.
It is good to know that I am not the only one in America who is done with summer even if it might be not be done with us. I am not looking forward to freezing weather or the problems that come with it. And Heaven knows I am not looking forward to the coming flu season considering we have all been locked away in our homes for most of the spring and summer due to a virus. But I am looking forward to seeing little ones and their families all dressed up in imaginative ways to celebrate a holiday that is really all about imagination and fun. And apparently I am not the only one. For those of you who are not familiar with Pinterest, it is a place where you can find all kinds of ideas for Halloween costumes and some instructions for how to make them or gather the things you will need to put them together if sewing is not required. You can also find recipes for all kinds of food sorted in a plethora of ways. For instance, most of my recent searches for food have included the words "low carb" or "air fryer" and I could cook from now till the day I go to the big Diner in the Sky and still never get through all that is available there.
I have also found information on how to groom my dog there, but I will say that I found better videos about that on Youtube. In addition, I have a huge collection of Christmas card ideas on my board called Christmas cards. I like that I can have boards or collections that I leave out for anyone to see and some that I keep private just for myself or others.
For instance, every year I start a board for that year and pin stuff that was important in that year as sort of a scrapbook for my year. Looking back over the last few years has been entertaining as I watched my interest change and some that stayed the same across the board.
