Bryan County residents who have not yet registered to vote in the June 30 Primary election must do so by this Friday, June 5, according to Election Board Secretary Kimberly Norris.
Also scheduled June 30 are elections the for the Rock Creek I-2 and Achille I-3 school boards, and special proposition elections for the towns of Achille and Bokchito.
Oklahoma residents who are United States citizens and least 18 years old may apply to become registered voters.
Those who are not registered or who need to change their registration may apply by completing and mailing an Oklahoma Voter Registration Application form, which must be postmarked by midnight June 5.
Applications postmarked after that time will be accepted and processed after June 30, Norris said.
Oklahoma Voter Registration Application forms are available at the County Election Board office, 402 W. Evergreen St, Ste A-2, in Durant, as well as at most post offices, tag agencies and public libraries countywide and online at elections.ok.gov.
The County Election Board responds in writing to individuals who submit voter registration applications via a voter identification card featuring the new voter's precinct number and polling place location. Otherwise, the person will receive a letter explaining why their voter registration application was not approved.
According to Norris, a person who has submitted a voter registration application but has not received a response within 30 days should contact the County Election Board office.
Norris advised that, due to COVID-19 testing at the Bryan County Health Department, the polling place for Precinct 070008 has been changed.
For the June 30 Primary election only, the polling place for the precinct will be at the Durant Intermediate School gym, 1314 Waco St., in Durant.
