With the spring sports season cancelled by the UIL because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Herald Democrat is putting a spotlight on the seniors who had their high school careers abruptly come to an end.
College plans: Going to West Texas A&M for PSA program through Texas A&M. I plan on transferring to Texas A&M after my freshman year to study psychology.
Superstitions, rituals or traditions before or after competing: Praying before and after the game.
Song or music that prepares you for competition: Any song we that we could jam out on the bus to.
Favorite subject/class: Culinary.
Favorite teacher and why: I have loved all of my teachers. The teacher that sticks out the most is Mrs. Crowe, she encouraged me to go out of my comfort zone.
Favorite coach and why: Coach Berend. She was always kind, fun and understanding. She taught me so much about the game.
Best teammate and why: All of my teammates are the best to me.
Best high school sports memory: The softball lock-in we had to be the first team to practice for that season.
Best high school non-sports memory: Winning first place in my FCCLA STAR event.
What you love about your sport: I love the team and the dedication we all put into playing the sport.
Favorite sports movie and why: “The Blind Side.” It has a great storyline.
Describe the Tioga Class of 2020: Ambitious, motivated and very competitive.
Biggest lesson learned: Always appreciate what you have while you have it.
Biggest influence in your life: My parents and siblings.
Athlete you look up to: Simone Biles.
Reaction to the season being cancelled: It was upsetting that we played our last game without even knowing it.
Message to your teammates: Continue to work hard and never take for granted the time you get to spend on the field. Keep trying to make history for Tioga softball.
Message to your freshman self: Change is not always a bad thing. Keep on living for your dreams and pushing forward. Everything you are working so hard for is going to be worth it.
Thing you won’t miss at all: All the running.
Thing you will miss the most: I will miss the friendships and making memories.
