Joanne Grant started work with Grayson County at the Health Department but will retire from the county at the end of this week from her position in the Purchasing Office.

The proclamation read in Commissioners Court Tuesday said Grant started at the Health Department as a clerk in the indigent health department in 1993. In 1995, she transferred to the Purchasing Office where she worked for many years with Jeff Schneider who retired about a year ago.

Since then, Grant has worked with Jodi Platt who became the Grayson County Purchasing Agent after Schneider retired.

Grayson County commissioners praised Grant for her work for the county especially Commissioner Bart Lawrence who credited her for helping former Grayson County Commissioner Gene Short with the State Highway 289 expansion and with helping Lawrence when he took over as commissioner in that precinct.

He said she did a really great job of helping him when he was first elected to the court and he thanked her for that help.
