Grayson County commissioners Tuesday gave their blessing for those with permits to sell fireworks during the upcoming holiday weekend.

Commissioner Jeff Whitmire said the court thought it had already given that blessing a couple of years ago but apparently the need for the court’s approval was in stated in two different statutes and the court only approved the sale for one.

They corrected that omission Tuesday. The fireworks can only be sold for the Memorial Day holiday from the Wednesday before the last Monday in May and to midnight on the last Monday in May.

The fireworks may only be sold in the unincorporated areas of the county and may also only be used in those areas.
