A suspect led the Sherman Police Department on a short pursuit through the county this past weekend.

In a report released Tuesday, SPD said the incident started at 10:51 Sunday evening when officers were dispatched to a road hazard at the intersection of West Washington Street and southbound US Highway 75 control road or Sam Rayburn Freeway.

On scene, officers found a disabled vehicle, and upon approach, officers discovered an adult male slumped over the driver’s seat of the car.

The report noted that the officer observed that the car was in drive.

“Officers knocked on the glass and the adult male sped off leading officers on a pursuit through Sherman and Howe,” the release said. “The pursuit came to an end at Van Alstyne city limits.”

According to the report, the adult male was arrested and booked into the Grayson County Jail for driving while intoxicated and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. A report for the aforementioned offenses was generated.
