In a release issued Wednesday, Fannin County reported its first COVID-19 death. The release said that the individual was a resident of the Ladonia area and the individuals was 78 years old.


The death was reported to the Fannin County Health Authority Dr. James Froelich by the Texas Department of State Health Services.


“The Texas Department of State Health Services has reported the first death in Fannin County to the Fannin County Health Authority,” the release said. “This person is a resident of the Ladonia area and is 78 years old. The notification from the State does not give date of death however it shows a “Last Date of Home Isolation” as 5/2/2020. The address given places the resident far out in the county well outside of the Ladonia city limits.:


The release said no other information is known at this time.


As of May 1, Fannin County had 23 COVID-19 cases with only one hospitalization.
