Denison residents will have a chance to interact with city officials at a town hall Thursday night at The Recreation Outreach Center at Parkside Baptist church, 310 North Lillis Lane.
The town hall will begin at 6 p.m. with all the heads of the city’s different departments present to take comments and answer questions.
This is the first of a quarterly series of meetings the city is starting this month. The heads of public works, code compliance, community development, police, fire, parks and recreation, library, main street, employee services and utility will be on hand.
The city has been dealing with a lot of major issues recently with a fire that burned down two buildings and damaged several others on Main Street last week. The status of the city’s fire department has also been a hot topic as the city recently hired a private firm to assist with emergency services while new hires go through an expedited training process.
In the summer the city held a town hall to receive public comments on a proposed rental inspection program that is still in the feedback phase.
Another topic that has been garnering attention lately is the city’s response to the growing homeless population.
