The long hot days of summer just keep hanging on in North Texas and Southern Oklahoma and it is making the plight of those without shelter even more grim.

One of the local agencies that works with that population said the heat has led to a serious need for bottled water. Grand Central Station — The Dining Car in Sherman said they like to be able to give their clients at least a bottle of water to take with them when they leave after meals so they can stay hydrated. That all adds up to a lot of bottled water.

In a recent social media post, the GCS asked people to donate and specifically asked for 16 ounce bottles for the patrons.

The local weather forecast doesn’t predict much help with the situation. High temperatures for the next seven days are supposed to continue reaching into the 90s with lows only going down to the 70s.

Water donations can be dropped off at the Dining Car at 110 S. Throckmorton Street. For more information about how to help, please call 903-957-0264.
