The Grayson Crisis Center helps hundreds of people each year and now there is a chance for the public to help it by simply clicking a “like” button.

Beginning on Wednesday, the story of Grayson Crisis Center and McCullough & Pierson Insurance in Sherman was featured on the official Safeco InsuranceFacebook page (Facebook.com/SafecoInsurance), giving the nonprofit a chance to earn an additional $5,000. If the story receives at least 250 likes, comments or shares on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or LinkedIn, the donation will be doubled to $10,000 by Safeco.

“We are excited to share the inspiring stories of our agents’ volunteerism in their communities, while also raising funds for these outstanding nonprofit organizations across the country,” said Keith Hetherly, Safeco Insurance Central East Region Territory Manager. “Safeco’s Make More Happen Awards program helps to recognize the amazing work agents do in areas like Sherman and we hope it motivates others to do the same.”

Throughout 2019, Safeco will select a total of 23 independent agents for Make More Happen Awards and will donate up to $230,000 to nonprofits they support. Agencies are eligible for the award by submitting an application that demonstrates their commitment to a specific nonprofit, along with a photo of a project they have worked on.

McCullough & Pierson Insurance in Sherman has earned a 2019 Make More Happen Award. This award acknowledges the agency’s commitment to improving their community through volunteer work with the Grayson Crisis Center, an organization dedicated to providing a safe haven, crisis intervention, and comprehensive support services to victims of family violence and sexual assault.

Safeco’s Make More Happen Awards, part of the company’s Agent Giving Program, recognizes independent agencies whose staff supports nonprofits that do meaningful work in the areas of community health, safety, education and civil service.

McCullough & Pierson Insurance became involved with Grayson Crisis Center in 2016 when agent Cindy McCullough began working with the organization. This past March, the agency held a March Madness basketball themed event where all proceeds benefitted to the Crisis Center. Through this event the community raised over $3,500 to give directly to Grayson.

“For three years I have been an advocate for the Grayson Crisis Center, educating the community against sexual assault and domestic violence, and in 2018, I started serving on the board as President Elect,” said Cindy McCullough, independent agent at McCullough & Pierson Insurance in a written statement. “We are incredibly appreciative to be awarded the Safeco Insurance Make More Happen Award to help Grayson Crisis Center, which will be positively impacted thanks to these funds.”
