Sherman Police


Possession — Officers conducted a traffic stop Aug. 5 in the 1600 block of Texoma Parkway. During the stop, they were told the car contained illegal narcotics. The officers searched the vehicle and driver and found from 1-4 grams of black tar heroin, less than two ounces of marijuana and less than 28 grams of Xanax pills. The driver was arrested and transported to the Grayson County Jail.


Possession — Dispatch received a call Aug. 2 about a reckless driver in the 4700 block of North US Highway 75. The female driver wrecked her vehicle in the 2800 block of South Travis. She was found to be intoxicated and in possession of a dangerous drug. The suspect was arrested for driving while intoxicated, open alcohol container and possession of a dangerous drug.


Possession — An officer conducted a traffic stop Aug. 3 near the 900 block of East Rosedale. The driver of the vehicle was found to be in possession of marijuana and driving with an invalid license. The marijuana was seized and a report was filed at large for possession of marijuana less than two ounces and driving while license invalid with prior conviction.


Burglary of a habitation — An officer responded Aug. 3 to the report of a burglary in the 1200 block of South Travis. Upon investigation, it was determined an unidentified suspect made forced entry into the male victim’s residence and stole his television. A report was taken and the case is under investigation.


Driving while intoxicated — An officer conducted a traffic stop Aug. 4 in the 500 block of South Rusk Street. The male driver was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for driving while intoxicated.


Unauthorized of vehicle — An officer was dispatched Aug. 4 to the 2800 block of South Travis in reference to a stolen vehicle. The female complainant advised two known persons borrowed her vehicle and would not return the vehicle. A report for unauthorized use of vehicle was completed.


Possession — An officer conducted a traffic stop Aug. 4 in the 200 block of North Grand. The male driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana less than two ounces and tampering with evidence. A passenger in the vehicle was arrested for multiple active local warrants.


Burglary of a vehicle — Officers responded Aug. 4 to the report of a burglary of a vehicle in the 1400 block of South Austin. The female complainant advised she arrived home and forgot to lock her vehicle. A short time later, she saw her headlights were on and went outside to investigate. Miscellaneous items were taken from the vehicle. A report was generated for burglary of a vehicle.


Possession — An officer stopped a motorcycle Aug. 5 for multiple violations in the 1100 block of North Frisco Road. The female passenger was found to be in possession of over a gram of a controlled substance. She was arrested and booked into the Grayson County Jail for possession of a controlled substance.


Theft of firearm — A male complainant made telephone contact Aug. 5 with the public safety administrator regarding a theft. He stated an unknown suspect entered his unlocked vehicle in the 200 block of West Middleton and stole property. A report for theft of firearm was generated.
