Denison Police

Forgery/credit card abuse — A male complainant stated he was contacted by a man who stated the complainant had won a two million dollar sweepstakes and a new car. The caller said he would send two different checks and a debit card with money loaded on it. However, the check and debit card delivered to him were no good. The caller attempted to get the complainant to send him money, but the complainant became suspicious and did not so. The investigation is ongoing.

Suspicious person —Officers responded July 30 to the call of a suspicious person at the Texas Travel Center located in the 6800 block of North U.S. Highway 75. The female subject was arrested for evading arrest/detention and resisting arrest.

Assault — Officers responded July 30 to the call of a male assaulting a female inside a vehicle. The victim stated her boyfriend assaulted her by pulling her hair and dragging her back into the vehicle she was trying to get out of. The male was arrested for assault causing bodily injury/family violence.

Theft of firearm — A complainant stated someone stole a handgun out of an unlocked safe. Officers are following up on leads.

Sherman Police

Burglary of a habitation — Officers were dispatched July 28 to a residence in the 1800 block of Westside Drive in reference to a burglary. The male victim advised someone had entered his home while he was asleep and stole property. An offense report was completed.

Duty on striking fixture — Officers responded July 28 to the report of a hit and run collision in the 1200 block of South Walnut. A report was completed for duty on striking fixture greater than or equal to $200. No one is in custody at this time.

Assault — Officers were dispatched July 28 in reference to a disturbance in the 2000 block of West Taylor. The female victim stated she was physically assaulted by an acquaintance. Information was gathered and a report for assault causing bodily injury was filed.

Burglary of a vehicle — A male complainant made telephone contact with the public safety administrator regarding a theft. He advised an unknown suspect entered his unlocked vehicle in the 1700 block of Skyline Drive and stole property. A report for burglary of a vehicle was generated.

Theft of property — An officer was dispatched July 29 to a business in the 2100 block of Texoma Parkway in reference to a theft. He learned a person had taken property from the business during the night. The complainant was able to identify the suspect, and a report for theft of property from $100-$750 was completed.

Assault — Officers responded July 29 to call of a disturbance in the 2000 block of West Taylor. The caller stated a female was being assaulted by a male. Upon arrival, the officers gathered information from several witnesses advising the female victim had been hit several times in the face by the male suspect, causing injury. The suspect was arrested for assault causing bodily injury/family member, and a report was generated.

Failure to identify — An officer stopped a vehicle July 29 for a traffic violation near the 500 block of North Woods. The driver initially provided a fictitious name and the passenger was found to be in possession of marijuana. A case was filed at large for failure to identify/fictitious information by the driver. A separate was filed at large for possession of marijuana more than two ounces.
