Drivers who regularly travel on U.S. Highway 82, between Country Club Road and County Road 2935, in Fannin County may encounter road closures and delays over the next two weeks as the Texas Department of Transportation completes projects at two locations along the thoroughfare.

The intermittent closures will be made from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Sloan Creek and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 5 at Bois D’ Arc Creek. The closures are meant to facilitate the expansion of Hwy 82 from two to four lanes.

Contractor Austin Bridge and Road Services will conduct the work and utilize adjacent hauling roads when possible to minimize traffic impacts, but motorists are urged use alternate routes on the scheduled works days.

Completion of the projects may be affected by weather.

TxDOT reminds drivers to follow all traffic signs, reduce their speed as they travel through work zones, and avoid in-car distractions, such as cellphones and audio and navigation systems.
