Denison Police

Assault — Officers responded June 29 to the call of a man chasing a woman. The victim told officers her boyfriend assaulted her by pushing her down, causing her head to strike the concrete below. She said he also threw things at her and kicked her phone out of her hand. The suspect was arrested for assault causing bodily injury/family violence.

Warrants/possession — A vehicle was stopped June 28 for a traffic violation in the 2000 block of US Highway 69. A male in the vehicle was arrested for several outstanding city of Denison warrants. A female in the vehicle was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

Public intoxication — Officers responded to the call of an intoxicated person in the 1200 block of West Crawford. The male suspect was located and arrested for public intoxication with three prior convictions and an outstanding Grayson County warrant.

Counterfeit checks — A complainant stated June 28 that two counterfeit checks were passed at a local bank. Officers will be following up on leads.

Criminal mischief — A female complainant stated June 30 someone damaged her vehicle by smashing out a window and scratching the paint. Officers will be following up on leads.

Sherman Police

Possession — A vehicle was stopped June 17 for an unsafe lane change in the 6200 block of North US Highway 75. The odor of marijuana was detected and the female driver was found to be in possession of less that two ounces of marijuana and concentrated cannabis. She was arrested for possession of a controlled substance less than one gram and possession of marijuana less than two ounces.

Driving while intoxicated — Dispatch received a call June 18 to report a possibly intoxicated driver. The caller followed the vehicle to the 500 block of South East Street and reported observing the male operator of the vehicle and a passenger switch places. The vehicle was located by officers and stopped. Two other passengers, ages one and three, were also located in the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was later found to have previous convictions for driving while intoxicated.

Assault — Officers were dispatched June 17 to the 200 block of Burton Street in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, they met with a female victim who stated she had been assault by a known male suspect in the parking lot of a business in the 400 block of US Highway 82. An offense report for assault was generated.

Found property — An officer was dispatched June 18 to the 700 block of East of US Highway 82 in reference to an unoccupied wheelchair in the roadway. Upon arrival, the officer found the wheelchair had been moved out of the roadway by a citizen. There were no descriptors or information indicating who the wheelchair belonged to. The wheelchair was collected for safekeeping. A report was generated for found property.

Assault — Officers responded June 18 to the report of an assault in the 2700 block of Rolling Hills Drive. Upon arrival, they learned two family members had gotten into an altercation, but neither party was injured. A report was taken due to the offensive contact.

Theft of property — An officer was dispatched June 18 to the 1400 block of North Highland Avenue in reference to a vehicle being stolen. An investigation was conducted, and it was learned that an overnight guest took the vehicle key and vehicle without obtaining permission from the owner. A report was generated for theft of property from $2,500-$30,000.
