A Tioga man who has been charged with killing his wife, will not go to trial in July.
Sebastian Roman was arrested on June 27, 2018 on a murder charge in the death of his wife Maria Ortiz. A report from the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office said that deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call at around 12 a.m. that day to a home in the 3600 block of Airport Road in Tioga and found Ortiz dead inside the home.
Roman was indicted in August and has pleaded not guilty to the crime.
Roman’s attorney Joe N. Smith said Wednesday that Roman’s trial has been pushed back to September.
A pre-trial hearing scheduled for Wednesday was cancelled due to the rescheduling. In addition to the murder charge, Roman is also being held on an ICE detainer. His bond has been set at $500,000.
