MIDLAND — Jimmy Crooks and Nike Tratree each went 2 for 4 with three runs batted in and Euless Trinity beat Frenship 12-6 Friday at Christensen Stadium to sweep the Region I-6A quarterfinal series in two games.

Sebastian Colon went 2 for 4 with a double, a triple, an RBI and a run scored for Trinity. The Trojans won the series opener 5-3 on Thursday.

Trinity staked starting pitcher Nick Fort to a 5-0 lead in the second inning and then, after Frenship narrowed it to 5-2, added a seven-run fifth.

Peyton Kennard and Riley Robinson had two hits apiece for Frenship, and Robinson drove in two runs.

Bushland 6

Shallowater 2

PLAINVIEW — Skyler Jaco homered in the first inning and pitched a complete game, helping No. 6 Bushland beat No. 9  Shallowater in the first game of a Region I-3A quarterfinal series.

Brody Phillips went 2 for 3 with a walk and three runs batted in for Bushland (22-5-1).

The best-of-three series concludes Saturday at Wilder Field with the second game scheduled for noon and the third game, if necessary, shortly afterward.

Bushland took advantage of eight walks and three hits to score five runs off Shallowater starter Hayden VanderRoest, who lasted 4 1/3 innings. VanderRoest struck out nine.

VanderRoest hit a solo homer, and Cutter Sparks drove in the other run for the Mustangs (25-6-1).


Windthorst 8-14

Ralls 2-0

WICHITA FALLS — Laynie Brown struck out eight in a two-hit pitching performance and leadoff batter Kora Pennartz went 4 for 5 with four runs scored and three RBI as No. 4 Windthorst run-ruled No. 6 Ralls 14-0 to complete a two-game sweep of a Region I-2A semifinal series.

Windthorst won the first game earlier Friday 8-2 behind four-hit pitching from Brown, who struck out 12, and two runs driven in by Blaire Schreiber.

Ramie Torres and Breighdyn Jones each drove in a run for Ralls in the opener, Leslie Torres supplied two hits and MaKendall Smith and Isabel Lara each scored a run.

In the deciding game, Windthorst scored three runs each in the first and third innings, two in the second and six in the fourth. Camryn Latham, Abby Brown and Claire Hemmi drove in two runs apiece.

Smith and Lexi Palmer had the only hits for Ralls.
