Several school districts around Grayson County will be having elections on May 4.


Sherman Independent School District will be having three seats open. Tim Millerick is running unopposed for place three. Britton Brooks will be vacating his seat and looking to take his place are Anna Wylie and Ronald Rose. Hillary Clark, incumbent, is running unopposed for place five.


Denison Independent School District has three candidates seeking one open seat in ward five. They are Becky Russell, Christina Moran and Erica Drieselman.


Howe Independent School District has five candidates vying for two open seats, both of which are at large positions. The candidates are Tamela Shadden, Michael Doty, Randy Hayes, Dustin Leakey and Jarod Brockelman.


Pottsboro Independent School District has three open seats — two at large positions and one seat fulfilling the remainder of an unexpired term recently vacated. The uncontested candidate running for one of those seats is Jeremy Lewis. The three candidates competing for the two open seats are Robert Powlison, Scott Galyon and Brenda Alexander. Powlison is the incumbent in that race.


Tom Bean Independent School District has three candidates running for two, at-large seats, and two of them are incumbents. James Hamilton, Marion Williams and Tom Sharp are all running for the two seats.


Whitesboro Independent School District is having six candidates running for two, at large seats. Those candidates are Michael Paris, Carol Pike, Joy Lyn Bateman, Shannon Blake, Gaving Cogburn and T.R. Fletcher.


Whitewright Independent School District has three at large seats being sought by Linda Jester, Jack Rogers, Tommy Henderson, Nolen Smith and Brandon Godbey. Tammy Francis is running unopposed for an unexpired seat.


Bells Independent School District has three candidates vying for two at large seats. Those candidates are Rodney Campbell, Lonnie Carter and Kelly Lewis.


Collinsville Independent School District has two candidates running unopposed with two candidates vying for one seat. Jared Light is running for place three. Jarrett Crisp is seeking place six. Johnny Mach Smothermon and Derrell Ragsdale are facing off for place seven.


Tioga Independent School District has two seats open. Rickey D. Kemp is running for place one uncontested. Ryan Walters and Justin Lewter are running for place four.


Early voting will take place from April 22-30. The last day to apply for ballot-by-mail is April 23. The application must be received by that date not postmarked according to Grayson County’s election website. For additional information, visit the website www.co.grayson.tx.us/page/elec.home.
