The Fannin County Sheriff’s Office said a 70-year-old man told investigators he feared for his life Saturday after he fatally shot his adult son during an altercation.
Sheriff Mark Johnson said deputies responded to a residence off County Road 4605 at approximately 9 a.m. after the man called police to tell them he had shot his son. Officers arrived and pronounced Wilson J. Day, 37, dead at the scene. It wasn’t immediately clear what led to the initial dispute between the two men.
Johnson said Day was shot once and an autopsy would be completed by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office. Citing the ongoing investigation, Johnson said he could not provide additional details, but said the father was not arrested, and he did not expect to file criminal charges against the man. No other injuries were reported in the incident.
