Denison Police have opened an assault investigation after a man claimed he was attacked by an unknown, knife-wielding assailant Thursday night.
Lt. Mike Eppler said, shortly before 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1800 block of South Mirick Avenue upon receiving a report of a disturbance. Eppler said officers arrived and found multiple people at the residence, including the victim, who had only a small cut on his wrist.
“This one guy — who he supposedly did not know — was agitated,” Eppler said of the complainant’s account. “He said the guy then started yelling and pulls out a pocket knife and cuts him with it.”
Eppler said the complainant did not require medical attention and told police his attacker had left the scene prior to officers’ arrival. A physical description of the suspect was not immediately available Thursday.
The incident remains under investigation. Eppler said the suspect, if caught, could be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
