Denison Police said a woman was arrested on a felony assault charge last weekend after she reportedly cut her husband with a knife during a fight.
Lt. Mike Eppler said shortly before 1 a.m. last Sunday, officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 500 block of Joy Lane. Eppler said the 54-year-old victim told police his wife had pulled a knife on him during an argument about their relationship, but with no injuries reported and no other place for the man to stay for the evening, Eppler said officers advised the couple to settle their difference peacefully and left.
“A few hours later, at about 4:35 a.m., we got a call from Texoma Medical Center saying the victim had been treated for minor wounds and was discharged,” Eppler said. “Apparently, they had gotten into another argument and, this time, his wife did cut him a few times with a knife.”
Eppler said officers located the 51-year-old woman a short time later and arrested her on a charge of family violence aggravated assault, with a deadly weapon.
The Denison Police lieutenant encouraged members of the couple to avoid physical violence and to remove themselves from potentially-dangerous situations.
“If there’s a problem brewing between you and someone else, just separate until things cool down,” Eppler said. “Don’t stick around and have it escalate into something that shouldn’t happen.”
