The Sherman Planning and Zoning Commission will consider a 156-unit apartment complex adjacent to the Northside on Travis apartments during its regular meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the council chambers of City Hall, 220 W. Mulberry St.

The proposed development will include 156 total units divided into 84 one-bedroom units and 72 two-bedroom units to be called The Lofts at Liberty Hill. The apartment complex will feature amenities including a 24-hour fitness center and a luxury swimming pool with a spa.

The developers are asking for exceptions to the facade and parking lots from the board of adjustments. The request also includes a zone change from single family residential to multi-family residential, as well as a site plan approval for the apartments.

The board of adjustments will also consider exceptions to allow a metal building while the commission will consider a specific use permit to allow an auto body repair shop for Sherman Collision Repair, who is seeking to add a 3,600 square-foot building featuring five bays. One resident, Danny Hutchins, has responded to the city’s impact letter stating his opposition to any exceptions for the property.

East Sherman Baptist Church is requesting a replat of its amended plat of property located at 2122 South FM 1417. The church has commercial retail property at the location it is seeking to replat into three lots for future commercial development.

MLK Real Estate is requesting a specific use permit and site plan approval to allow the operation of a Bobcat Dealership that will sell, rent and service compact and construction equipment at 4612 Texoma Parkway, the former site of Haverty’s Furniture. The commission had previously issued a specific use permit at the same location on Sept. 17, 2018 to allow sale of pre-owned and new motorcycles, ATV and UTV as well as service and repairs of those types of vehicles.

The city of Sherman is requesting site plan approval for an addition to the West Hill Cemetery and Parks Maintenance Building at 1304 West Lamar Street.

The commissioners will also take up several individual residential requests.
