Denison Police are reminding motorists about the dangers of drowsy driving after a man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Thursday morning.

In an emailed incident report, the department said the crash occurred in the 1800 block of South Armstrong Avenue at approximately 7:15 a.m. According to the report, the northbound vehicle, driven by a 69-year-old woman, veered off the road when she fell asleep and collided with a utility pole. The driver’s son and passenger, Wesley Toll Daniels Jr., 40, of Denison, was transported to Texoma Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The driver was also transported to TMC and treated for minor injuries.

“If you’re fatigued, we certainly ask that you get someone else to drive or to just not travel,” Eppler said.

The driver is not expected to face criminal charges.
