Howe Police have opened a death investigation after officers discovered a deceased man Tuesday in an athletic field parking lot belonging to the Howe Independent School District.
Sgt. Keith Milks said an officer patrolling along FM 902 observed a vehicle parked near the Bulldog Stadium athletic complex shortly after 1 p.m.
“An officer noticed an individual parked here and it was not, generally, a normal time to be here,” Milks said. “The officer stopped and found an individual deceased.”
Milks described the unidentified male as middle aged and said he was not a resident of Howe, nor was he affiliated with the school district. The sergeant said he could not point to a possible cause of death until an autopsy had been conducted, but added that investigators did not believe there was any ongoing threat to public safety.
Howe ISD Superintendent Kevin Wilson confirmed that the incident occurred on district property and said no students or staff were involved in the matter, but declined to comment further.
Milks said the investigation is ongoing.
