A Denison couple has been indicted following the death of a 12-year-old child who was brought to a local hospital with significant injuries earlier this month.
John Howard Arndt, 34, and Jennifer Anne Arndt, 35, both of Denison, were indicted on two charges of injury to a child after being arrested Thursday. Both charges are felony offenses punishable with up to a life sentence each, Denison Police Lt. Mike Eppler said.
Interim Grayson County District Attorney Brett Smith said he believed the hearing was regarding an ongoing Child Protective Services case.
Denison Police received a call on Oct. 12 from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services regarding a 12 year old boy who was brought to Texoma Medical Center with significant injuries and malnutrition. The family of the child lives in a residence in the 1300 block of West Woodard Street.
The child was treated locally, but transported to Children’s Medical Center Dallas, where he was pronounced dead on Oct. 17.
When called for information on the case, Smith said he could not give additional details due to the ongoing nature of the case.
