The Denison Police Department is searching for two burglary suspects who opened a Taco Bell drive thru window and stole more than $400 from a cash register.

Lt. Mike Eppler said officers were initially dispatched to a report of a robbery at the Taco Bell on South Austin Avenue shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, but upon arrival, found that none of the employees had been injured or threatened.

“A couple of employees were back in the back of the building working, when they heard the drive-thru window open,” Eppler said. “Whenever they went up there, they saw that one of the suspects had reached in, opened up the cash drawer, took the money out and then took off running.”

The business was closed at the time of the burglary, but the incident was captured by a security camera pointed toward the drive thru window. Eppler described the suspects as black males, both approximately 15 or 16 years old, and said if caught, they could face burglary charges and potential jail time.

“It’s a state jail felony,” Eppler said of the charge. “It could be up to two years of incarceration.”

Those with knowledge of the incident or the suspects’ identity are encouraged to call the Denison Police Department at 903-465-2422.
