The Sherman Police Department said a man is wanted on criminal mischief charges after he allegedly became so upset by his cellphone bill over the weekend that he destroyed a computer monitor belonging to his service provider.
Sgt. Brett Mullen said the incident occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Metro PCS store, located in the 700 block of East U.S. Highway 82. Mullen said the man went to the office to pay his monthly bill but the interaction with store staff escalated when he became enraged over a “processing fee” included on his bill.
“Apparently he was unhappy with the service he was provided,” Mullen said. “He took a computer monitor from the desk there, threw it on the floor and broke it. He then left the scene on foot.”
Reading from the department’s incident report, Mullen said the damage to the computer monitor, desk and floor was estimated at more than $1,000. Mullen said no arrest had been made in the case as of Monday afternoon, but investigators were still searching for the suspect. The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall, white male with a slender build and black and gray hair.
“If you’re not satisfied with your service, doing this is not the appropriate course of action,” Mullen said. “And if anyone has any information on who this guy might be, please give us a call and share your tips.”
Those with knowledge of the incident or the suspect’s identity are encouraged to call the Sherman Police Department at 903-892-7290.
