The Denison City Council will finalize work on the city’s budget for the 2018-2019 fiscal year when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday at Denison City Hall, located at 300 W. Main St. The process of passing the budget cover several items, including the formal budget adoption, and ratifying the property tax increase that is reflected in the budget.
As a part of the process, the city will also certify the assessment roll of $1.35 billion set by the Grayson Appraisal District. This will allow the city to levy ad valorem taxes in the city with a rate of 63.3377 cents for each $100 of assessed value.
The new fiscal year will begin on Oct. 1.
On other items, the council will discuss a request for rezoning from commercial to single family for a property located in the 200 block of E. Johnson St. In a closed, executive session, the council will discuss pending litigation involving 715 W. Sears and a proposed 380 agreement with NTEX Development LLC before reconvening in open session to take any necessary action.
