A Denison man will now have to wait a few more months for his day in court on a murder charge. Brandon Jeffery was slated to go on trial Monday in the shooting death of Devin Wayne Owens.

Grayson County online court records show that trial has been moved to November. The charges Jeffery faces stem from a incident that happened on May 5, 2017 inside a 2007 Lincoln car that was parked outside Tupelo Honey in Denison. Police reports say that Jeffery is believed to have shot Owens in the face inside the car. Owens was taken to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Previously published reports said Jeffery was playing with a handgun when the shooting happened. Jeffery fled the scene after the shooting, according to witness reports.

Jeffery is represented by Sherman attorney Joe N. Smith.
