Roughly 1,500 Sherman-area customers were briefly without electricity Thursday morning after Sherman Police said a nearby grass fire damaged a utility pole and created the outages.
In a Facebook post published Thursday morning, the Sherman Police Department said the outages affected downtown Sherman and the surrounding area. Oncor Electric Delivery crews were seen repairing a utility pole near the intersection West Forest Avenue and South Travis Street following the outage. Oncor’s online outage map indicated that power was restored to most customers within the affected area by 11 a.m.
