Summer is on the horizon, which means it’s time to make sure your bathing suit wardrobe is up to date with all the right accessories — whether your plan is to spend the warm weather on the beach, relaxing poolside at the club or simply working on your tan from the comfort of your backyard. Macy’s MyStylist fashion expert Marisol Vecchini shared her expertise on the hottest spring essentials to pack when traveling this spring.
Swim in style
When it comes to swimsuits, Vecchini recommends stylish stripes in fresh palettes, such as one piece swimsuits that update classic looks with cheeky silhouettes. Another option is a sleek halter swimsuit that adds a low back for flirty flair and crochet for a romantic air.
Website Travel + Leisure weighed in on the hottest swimsuit styles for 2018. Trending now are romantic ruffles and frills, which are ideal for covering up body parts that you might be shy about flaunting, while still embracing your unique figure. This style works with flirty cut-out one pieces, rouched halters, bikinis, off the shoulder ruffled tops, high bottom bikinis or classic string suits. The site credits this look with having an ultra-feminine and widely flattering appeal.
If you want to stand out in your swimwear and make a statement, Travel + Leisure reveals the graphic neon is popular this season. This look pays heaving homage to the 80s, which has made its seasonal swing back to be in style. Color-blocking, textures, leopard accents and graphic patterns will elevate your swimwear game above the pack.
A last style to try if you prefer an elegant, classic approach is to consider minimalist swimwear. Frill-free, seamless suits in black and whites reveal a clean look, but your style game can still be elevated by experimenting with new shapes and patterns, such as off the shoulder and cutouts that make for a unique blend of futuristic meets classic cool.
While beachwear can be more casual, if you’re spending an afternoon at the country club, it’s good to have transitional outfits that can bring you from poolside to dinner.
For an outfit that can easily alternate between day and night, Vecchini suggests maxi-dresses, which can be made fun with prints, rubble trim and sashes.
Meanwhile, fun day looks to slip into between pool time include colorful, ruffled tops that exude tropical style — which can be paired with cropped, over-sized wide leg paper bag jeans for a stylish cut, or matched with your favorite cut-offs for a more casual approach.
And if casual just doesn’t cut it, faux-wrap dresses — which can be fun with shoulder cutouts and tie-waists — are perfect for walks along the beach, Vecchini says.
While body chains and water-friendly jewelry can always add an extra touch, your look isn’t truly completed until you have the perfect shoes.
“Gorgeous, fun colors and textures highlight the fresh espadrille styling,” Vecchini said about her spring pick, comfortable flats from Charter Club.
Moderate the heel for a more manageable fit, while lightweight fabrics and versatile colors make for fun spring style.
Bowed shoes are still making a huge splash, and casual satin bow slides make for a fashion-forward poolside look that can add an extra lift with chunky platforms.
Another way to dress up your poolwear is to consider radiant metallic and shimmering rhinestones that will bring “sweet sparkle to your warm-weather look,” according to Vecchini
