Denison Police said a Sherman man was killed Thursday afternoon after the motorcycle he was riding collided with an SUV.
Denison Police Lt. Mike Eppler said Cam McFarland, 34, was traveling north through the 2000 block of Armstrong Avenue on his motorcycle when, at approximately 3:45 p.m., a motor vehicle headed south on Armstrong attempted to turn left across the oncoming lanes and enter a nearby parking lot. Eppler said McFarland’s motorcycle then struck the side of the passenger vehicle.
“It appears that the driver of the vehicle was at fault for turning in front of him,” Eppler said.
McFarland was flown by air ambulance to a McKinney-area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Eppler said McFarland was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
As of Friday afternoon, Eppler said no charges had been filed against the driver of the passenger vehicle, but added that charges could be filed at a later date upon completion of the crash investigation.
“Whether they’re motorcycle riders or vehicle drivers, everybody has to be sure they’re being vigilant and paying close attention to everything that’s going on around them,” Eppler said.
