Bells officials announced Thursday that the boil water notice for the city has been rescinded.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the boil notice be issued on Tuesday because of the presence of contaminants or an interruption in service. The notice was in effect for residences on Blackmon Trail, Shelby Trail, Sunshine, West Lovers Lane, Johnson Trail, Catalina Drive and Stephens Drive in Bells.

"Our system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore adequate pressure, disinfectant levels, and/or bacteriological quality and has provided TCEQ with testing results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling as of May 31, 2018," the city's statement reads.

The city statement also says those with questions concerning the matter should contact City Administrator Beth Woodson at 903-965-7744 or Wayne Eller at 903-814-1226.
