Denison Police arrested a man on a felony possession charge Tuesday after he was allegedly found with $4,000 worth of marijuana in his car.

Lt. Mike Eppler said officers responded to the 700 block of West Hull Street at approximately 3:15 a.m. upon receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area. Eppler said officers made contact with the 20-year-old driver and a subsequent search of the man’s vehicle yielded the drugs.

“Some things kind of go without saying,” Eppler said. “You just don’t carry around 14 ounces of weed on you.”

Eppler said the man also received a paraphernalia charge for glass pipes and grinders found in the car and was charged for unlawfully carrying a pistol.

“You can have a weapon in your vehicle, if you’re not a convicted felon, of course,” Eppler said. “But if you’re conducting some other kind of criminal activity, then you can get charged for the weapon, too.”

The Denison Police lieutenant said the responding officers and the department as a whole had reason to be proud of the seizure.

“It’s always good to remove illegal substances from the street and keep them out of the hand of folks,” Eppler said.
