Two women who have been charged with capital murder in the death of a local hotel clerk were scheduled to appear at plea conferences in the Grayson County Justice Center this week.
Karalyn Marie Cross and Nikeya Grant were each indicted on with capital murder, aggravated robbery and engaged in an organized criminal activity. The indictments are formal charges and are not an indication of guilt.
First Assistant Grayson County District Attorney Kerye Ashmore said Tuesday that he doesn’t anticipate a plea deal being reached this week.
The charges stem from the death of Brandon Hubert on Aug. 11. Hubert was working as a clerk at the Quality Suites on U.S. Highway 75 in Sherman when he was killed during what authorities have said was a robbery.
Phone calls to Joe N. Smith, who represents Grant, and John Hunter Smith, who represents Cross, were not immediately returned.
